The New Entrepreneurial Revolution
Seth Godin has done it again. In one fell blog post, he has explained in complete and concise form what is ailing in the U.S., albeit, world, economy. The post is entitled, The Forever Recession (and the coming revolution). Here are a few excerpts so you can catch his drift….
The industrial age, the one that started with the industrial revolution, is fading away. It is no longer the growth engine of the economy and it seems absurd to imagine that great pay for replaceable work is on the horizon.
When everyone has a laptop and connection to the world, then everyone owns a factory. Instead of coming together physically, we have the ability to come together virtually, to earn attention, to connect labor and resources, to deliver value.
…..this is a platform for a kind of art, a far more level playing field in which owning a factory isn’t a birthright for a tiny minority but something that hundreds of millions of people have the chance to do.
Job creation is a false idol. The future is about gigs and assets and art and an ever-shifting series of partnerships and projects. It will change the fabric of our society along the way. No one is demanding that we like the change, but the sooner we see it and set out to become an irreplaceable linchpin, the faster the pain will fade, as we get down to the work that needs to be (and now can be) done.
People really need to grasp this, especially that weird species of human known as the politician. It may in fact do more harm than good to try to steer the world back from whence it came. I would tend to refer to what Seth is driving at as the New Entrepreneurial Revolution. A revolution in which there are no “masters and slaves.” One in which even you and me can do extraordinary and far reaching things…things that before seemed to be opportunities open only to those who started out with a leg up. We can lament and moan and groan about the change, but there is definitely a silver lining in that dark cloud. Just think it, and that is a good place to start, i.e., exercising that dormant muscle that is atrophying inside your skull, start-up costs have never been so low! So, what are you waiting for?!! Start moving up rather than expecting someone, or some politician, to give you a shovel.

La era industrial, el que comenzó con la revolución industrial, se está desvaneciendo. Ya no es el motor de crecimiento de la economía y parece absurdo pensar que pagar grandes para el trabajo es reemplazable en el horizonte.
Cuando todo el mundo tiene un ordenador portátil y conexión con el mundo, entonces cada uno es dueño de una fábrica. En lugar de reunirse físicamente, tenemos la capacidad de reunirse virtualmente, para ganar la atención, para conectar la mano de obra y recursos, para ofrecer un valor.
….. esto es una plataforma para un tipo de arte, un campo de mucho más juego en el que ser dueño de una fábrica no es un derecho de nacimiento de una pequeña minoría, sino algo que cientos de millones de personas tienen la oportunidad de hacerlo.
La creación de empleo es un ídolo falso. El futuro es de los conciertos y los activos y el arte, y una serie siempre cambiante de las alianzas y proyectos. Se va a cambiar la estructura de nuestra sociedad a lo largo del camino. Nadie está pidiendo que nos gusta el cambio, pero cuanto antes lo vemos y se propuso convertirse en un eje insustituible, el más rápido el dolor se desvanecerá, como nos ponemos manos a la obra que debe ser (y ahora se puede) hacer .
La gente realmente necesita para comprender esto, sobre todo esa especie rara de humano, conocido como el político. De hecho, puede hacer más daño que bien a tratar de dirigir al mundo hacia de donde vino. Yo me inclino a referirse a lo que Seth está conduciendo a la Revolución Empresarial Nuevo. Una revolución en la que no hay “amos y esclavos.” Uno en el que incluso usted y yo podemos hacer cosas extraordinarias y de largo alcance las cosas … que antes parecían ser las oportunidades abiertas sólo para aquellos que comenzaron con una pierna para arriba. Podemos lamentar y quejarse por el cambio, pero definitivamente hay un resquicio de esperanza en que la nube oscura. Sólo tienes que pensar, y eso es un buen lugar para empezar, es decir, el ejercicio de ese músculo que se atrofia latente dentro de su cráneo, los costos iniciales no han sido nunca tan bajo! Entonces, ¿qué estás esperando?! Empezar a moverse hasta en lugar de esperar a alguien, o algún político, para darle una pala.
