Reason #303: Stalking Al Gore
I don’t know why I have this habit of tuning into Bill O’Reilly around 6:00 PM (our time). I believe it is just to find topics to write about in this blog. I don’t always disagree with Bill the Bloviator, but I do disagree with the arrogant “I’m a GD American” attitude that emanates from his every expression. Last night I was really irritated by the section that showed a Fox News ambush journalist stalking Al Gore in the lobby of some hotel. The guy was asking Gore things like, “why won’t you come on the O’Reilly show, Mr. Gore?” VP Gore refused to answer the guy saying that he was on his way to lunch and would not consent to an interview at this time. O’Reilly ended the segment with a cocky “see I told you so, Gore is scared silly to face me like a man.” It really gets on my nerves to see a man like Al Gore, a Nobel prize winner no less, hounded as if he were Bernie Madoff. Gore is of course a proponent of the idea that we need to do something about global climate change. He has a significant amount of science to back him up. His ideas are good for the environment, regardless of where one stands on the global warming argument. Therefore, the only ones who should be ashamed of themselves are Fox News and Bill O’Reilly. Mr. Bill maybe Al Gore doesn’t come on your show because he doesn’t want to. Maybe he feels that he would just be stooping to your level if he did. Hell, if I were Al Gore, I wouldn’t either. Sometimes it is wiser to take the high road and ignore a bully rather than stand toe to toe with him and allow carnage to ensue. Get a life Fox News and stop advocating your right-wing views under the guise of being “fair and balanced.” The Gore segment last night puts the O’Reilly show on the level of Jerry Springer. Fun to watch at times, but sort of disgusting. And really, didn’t this whole idea of the ambush celebrity interview come from the “Stuttering John” episodes on the Howard Stern show? You know, Fox News likes to play up to this role of “moral superiority” over the other guys, but stooping to ambush journalism like what was on display last night demonstrates a bit of hypocrisy, wouldn’t you say?
